Waseda University in Tokyo has deployed a sophisticated AI chatbot to streamline its admissions process and improve prospective student engagement.
The chatbot answers questions about application procedures, deadlines, scholarship options, and campus life in both Japanese and English. Integrated with the university’s CRM, it guides students through the process, sends reminders, and collects feedback.
In the first month, the chatbot fielded over 15,000 inquiries, resolving 96% of them without human intervention. Admissions officers say the system has allowed them to concentrate on complex cases and personal interviews, while prospective students report faster, clearer responses and greater confidence in navigating admissions.
